In February, 2002, HOME hosted the 3 day Peoples' Nuclear Waste Forum in Fresno, CA, to bring together community members from urban areas facing a buildup of irradiated fuel at nuclear reactors, and from tribal areas facing  short-term or permanent high-level nuclear waste dumps. Historically, these groups have been played off against each other. However, any sustainable, fair, and safe solution must address the needs of both groups, as well as all other life forms on our shared planet.
Las Vegas City Life   Article about participants

Participants and others worked over the next 6 months to develop the comprehensive Peoples' Nuclear Waste Policy and submit it to law-makers and others. Please feel free to circulate it, but only in it's entire unedited format. Please notify us of any such use. Thank you.

"Gimme Twinkies, gimme wine,
Gimme jeans by Calvin Kline.
But if you split those atoms fine,
Mama keep 'em off those genes of mine!

"Gimme zits, take my dough,
Gimme arsenic in my jelly roll.
Call the devil and sell my soul,
But Mama keep dem atoms whole!"
