In February, 2002, HOME hosted the
3 day Peoples' Nuclear Waste Forum in Fresno, CA, to bring together community
members from urban areas facing a buildup of irradiated fuel at nuclear
reactors, and from tribal areas facing short-term or permanent
high-level nuclear waste dumps. Historically, these groups have been played
off against each other. However, any sustainable, fair, and safe solution must
address the needs of both groups, as well as all other life forms on our
shared planet.
